Freestyle aka Čerňa – the cat with eyes like a ball of fire

When Freestyle was born, to be honest – my jaw dropped a little. This kitten had everything set to “extra intense” from day one: distinctive markings, huge eyes and an aura of self-confidence that would outshine even a Hollywood star on the red carpet. And those eyes? They gradually turned into hot oranges! No, seriously. When she looks at you, you feel like you’re looking into two flames – whether she’s climbing on your fridge or snuggling up like an angel (which doesn’t happen very often).

Freestyle, whom we affectionately call Čerňa at home, is a strange phenomenon. On paper, she’s brown, but at first glance you’d guess she’s more like grey or even black. It’s a kind of cat optical illusion – and we love her just the way she is. She might not have won any gold medals at the show, but if character and energy were to be evaluated? Definitely gold!

Čerňa is an action lady through and through. She loves movement, adventure, heights, speed, and ideally everything at once. But what is perhaps the cutest – she does most of her stunts in close proximity to her little sister Sepi. The two are simply inseparable: one bends, the other jumps, and together they make a cat sitcom to be continued.

Just like Sepi, Freestyle had to stay home – she is a treasure after our Fynnoušek, who is already enjoying a well-deserved rest in the role of a neutered gentleman. And if Sepi was a bet on beauty, then Čerňa is a bet on personality.

Freestyle aka Čerňa After Neutering

The time has come for our Čerňa to end her breeding career as well. Freestyle stayed with me as Fynn’s daughter, and from the very beginning she was, above all, my bet on personality, temperament and something a little different. She has already written her part in the Whinecat story, and so I decided it was the right time to have her spayed.

Čerňa is still exactly the same cat she has been since she was little – distinctive, active, confident and always making sure you know she is around. Spaying, of course, changes nothing about those fiery eyes or her temperament. It simply marks the end of her breeding career and the beginning of another part of her life without any more maternal duties.

With breeding cats, I believe it is important not only to know the right time to include them in a breeding programme, but also to recognise when the right time has come to end their breeding career. Not every quality cat needs to have many litters, and my goal has never been to use every possible opportunity to produce more kittens.

For now, Čerňa is staying at home with us. There is already a potential new home that we have been discussing, but I am in no hurry. We will see whether everything works out in a way that is, first and foremost, right for her. If it does, another chapter of her life will begin with people of her own. If not, she will stay for now in the home she knows well.

And so Freestyle enters her breeding retirement as the Čerňa we know and love – a little bit black, officially brown, with eyes like two balls of fire and enough energy to make it very clear that she herself has absolutely no intention of retiring.
