From Mating to Adoption: How Bengal Kittens Grow Up at Whinecat.cz

bengálská kočka

Whinecat.cz is not just a cattery where pedigree Bengal kittens are born. It's a home where every new life begins with respect, care, and deep understanding of the feline soul. Because we believe in transparency and education for future owners, we’ve written down the full journey – from the first mating to the safe moment your kitten leaves for your loving arms.

Minimum Age for Mating

According to Czech Regulation No. 384/2021, a female cat (queen) may be mated only after reaching 12 months of age. Male cats (studs) can be used in breeding from 6 months. All breeding cats must be microchipped, healthy, regularly examined by a vet, and registered with the Czech Cat Breeders’ Association (ČSCH–SCHK).

Confirming Pregnancy
About 3–4 weeks after mating, we visit our trusted clinic, Veterina Herynk, for an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy and count the embryos. This gives us an estimate of how many kittens to expect. Together with the veterinary team, we also determine the expected due date. This date is recorded at the clinic, and as the birth approaches, we stay in close contact.

Gestation and Birth
A Bengal cat’s pregnancy lasts approximately 63–67 days. The birth takes place in a calm, familiar environment with maximum care and support. Most queens handle labor well on their own, but we’re always present – and the vet is on standby.

Vaccination Schedule

We vaccinate our Bengal kittens as follows:

  • First vaccination: from 9 weeks of age
  • Booster vaccination: 3 weeks after the first
  • Spaying/neutering: 2 weeks after the booster

We use vaccines protecting against panleukopenia, calicivirus, and herpesvirus. Every kitten leaves our home fully vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and neutered/spayed.

Adoption: Law vs. Ethical Standards

  • According to Czech law (Act No. 246/1992 Coll.), the minimum legal age for adoption is 84 days (12 weeks).
  • FIFe rules (also binding for SCHK breeders) set the minimum age at 14 weeks with full vaccination completed.

At Whinecat.cz, we go even further. For the well-being and healthy development of each kitten, we allow adoption usually between 16–17 weeks. Until then, kittens stay with their mother, siblings, and humans – learning hygiene, communication, and confidence.
