Cats That Have Been Part of Whinecat

Not every cat that has been part of the Whinecat cattery stays with me for their entire life. Sadly, some are no longer with us, while others, after their breeding career has ended, live as neutered cats with new families. Each of them, however, has been part of my life and my breeding programme and has their own place in the history of Whinecat.

There can be many reasons for neutering a breeding cat. Sometimes the decision is based on age, health considerations or the completion of a breeding plan. At other times, it is the individual cat’s personality and how well they cope with living alongside other cats. Life in a cattery also means being part of a larger group, and this environment does not suit every Bengal cat in the long term.

Of course, I could keep every one of my cats after neutering. Emotionally, that would often be easier for me. But I believe this is exactly where my own wishes must come second to the needs of the individual animal. Keeping a cat simply because I love them and do not want to say goodbye, while knowing that they are not happy in their current environment, would feel more selfish than loving to me.

If I see that one of my cats does not cope well with living in a larger group, feels stressed by the presence of other cats, or simply needs more peace, personal space and human attention, I consider it my ethical responsibility to respect those needs. Sometimes this means making a decision that is difficult for me but may be much better for the cat.

This is why I sometimes look for a new home for a neutered cat – one that better suits their individual personality and needs. A quieter household, fewer animals or the opportunity to be the only cat can make an enormous difference to their quality of life.

On this page, you will therefore find our former breeding cats who are now enjoying the next chapter of their lives with new families, as well as those who are sadly no longer with us. All of them, however, remain part of the story of the Whinecat cattery.
